May 17    "Lead-Sell-Inspire... The Art of Strategic Storytelling" Luncheon ~ May 17, 2018 ~

Storytelling is the most persuasive and readily available tool for capturing and maintaining attention in the 21st Century marketplace. This is true for individuals, non-profits, small businesses, and major corporations.  Join us for an informative lunch with Jenny Riddle who will teach us how to better tell our stories. Fast-track your organization from good to great…one story at a time.

Did you know?
*  Stories are remembered far longer than facts.
*  Oxytocin is raised when listening to a story, and oxytocin promotes empathy, cooperation, and trust.
*  People are more likely to support a cause after listening to a story.
*  A mission statement is not a story.
*  You may not think you have stories, but you do.

Jenny Riddle is a professional storyteller and motivational speaker who delivers one-of-a-kind presentations. She understands the power of story and great ideas to engage and inspire audiences toward actionable outcomes in business and in life.

As the founder of Jenny Riddle: Bringing Books to Life and Tiny Tips for a Big Life, Jenny has successfully built her own niche businesses from the ground up. She is a highly sought after speaker with her unique brand of sharing compelling stories and vital ideas. In addition, Jenny is co-owner of Prairie Path Books, an independent bookstore in Wheaton.

Join us to learn how your organization would rise above the rest if your team members:
*  Learned to tell persuasive, relevant stories that attract customers, clients, or donors.
*  Realized that those who share good stories have a powerful advantage over others.
*  Replaced meaningless jargon and cliches with well-told stories.
*  Embraced the idea that the best pitch is a well-told story.
*  Capitalized on the proven fact that stories are more memorable than facts.
*  Utilized storytelling to unite people around a cause.

May 23    BAWIB: Luncheon "My Big Fat Abundant Life" & Scholarship Presentation
Please join us on Wednesday, May 23, for networking with fellow businesswomen, a featured speaker/topic,  and the presentation of the Bloomingdale Area Women in Business 2018 scholarship award.

This year's BAWIB Scholarship recipient is Siomara Sotelo. Siomara will be applying this award toward her associate degree in nursing at the College of DuPage where she is currently enrolled. We would like to thank the 2018 BAWIB Scholarship Sponsors: AMITA Adventist Healthcare GlenOaks Hospital and Wintrust Wealth Management for their generosity.

While you enjoy your lunch, our featured speaker, Amy Calhoun will present: "My Big Fat Abundant Life" which ex
plores daily intentionality in building abundance into your relationships, career and resources.

Does work-life balance really exist? What if we looked at it all as an intentional life and sought out the abundance in our families, jobs and assets instead? By using the concept of putting the big rocks in your jar first, we’ll explore tactics to harness the “busy” of your life and turn it into the full life you desire. Let’s uncover how being intentional each day, and separating the wheat from the chaff, can create more abundance in our relationships, resources and time.

As a single mom of two school-aged boys, Amy Calhoun employs efficiency and productivity to keep the ship on course (and the laundry clean). Calhoun doesn’t believe in work-life balance. Rather she focuses her attention on living life intentionally and creating experiences that add vitality to her life and the lives of those around her. She believes high performance is achievable at work and home by using systems, strategies and tactics to stay focused and engaged.

By day, Calhoun is the marketing and social media coordinator for College of DuPage. In her job she uses tactics and systems to increase output while incorporating breaks and vacations for recharging and refocusing.  Calhoun earned her bachelor’s degree at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA and received her master’s degree from Columbia College Chicago.
