Mar 1    Bloomingdale ONE Group Meeting
The Bloomingdale ONE Leads Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month with a July and December break.  It is composed of one member per business category.  It is the best way to quickly integrate into the Chamber.  All members help new initiates meet other members of the Chamber at all events.  AND we share business leads!  For more information on membership and open categories email John Rossini at john.rossini@edwardjones.com or call him at 630-372-2926.

Mar 3    BAWIB Scholarship Application Available ~ Deadline March 10
The Bloomingdale Area Women in Business will award one $1,000 scholarship to a woman who is looking to improve herself professionally by such means as continued education or professional development with the goal of furthering her knowledge and expertise.  Applicants must be:
  • Not currently enrolled in a degree earning program or
  • Affiliated residentially or commercially with the Bloomingdale area.
Scholarships must be used within the first year of being awarded.  The scholarship will be awarded at the BAWIB April 2017 event.
 
A committee from the general membership of BAWIB will evaluate applications based on the established criteria.  Recommendations from this committee will be tabulated to determine the winners. 
 
This scholarship is based on:
  • Personal Investment in education and career progression
  • Community Involvement, including volunteer or employment positions
  • Industry Involvement, including networking and committee positions
  • Potential Interview to discuss professional development plans

Mar 3    The Best of Bloomingdale 2017 ~ Seeking Nominations
    
    The Best of Bloomingdale 2017 is a new signature event designed to recognize outstanding members of the business community and for this year, celebrate the Bloomingdale Chamber's 35th Anniversary.  

    This event reaches beyond the chamber and into the community, requesting nominations and incorporating a voting component to augment judging in the selection process.  The Best of Bloomingdale culminates with an award dinner to recognize the winners.  Recognition of nominees and award recipients will continue throughout the year.  This premier event will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017,  in Bloomingdale at 5:30pm.

    The Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking nominations for the Best of Bloomingdale 2017 Awards.

Please join us in welcoming D's Treats to Bloomingdale on Friday, March 3 at 10 am for a ribbon cutting ceremony with light refreshments and treats immediately following.

D's Treats is a fun and creative bakery located in the Old Town area of Bloomingdale.  They focus on providing their customers with the best treats and strive to make their customer's vision come to life for any event or special occasion.

Mar 15    Scholarship Applications Due March 31
The Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce, along with contributions from several area businesses, will award $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school or college students.  Applicants must be planning to continue his/her education on a full-time basis, at an accredited post-secondary college, university, or vocational school in the United States to be eligible.  Applicants must fall into one of the following categories:
  • A Member or Child of a Member of the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce
  • A Resident of Bloomingdale
  • High school graduating senior or continuing post-secondary school student. You must be a full-time student (i.e., minimum of 12 quarter hours or 15 semester hours).
  • Academic Merit (must have a 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA to be considered)
 
Scholarships must be used within the first year of being awarded.  The award check will be payable to the student upon verification of enrollment through the school.

A committee from the general membership of the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce will evaluate applications based on the established criteria.  Recommendations from this committee will be tabulated to determine the winners.

Join Ron Losby, CEO of Steinway Musical Instruments, presenting

    Ron Losby was named as Chief Executive Officer of Steinway Musical Instruments on August 15, 2016. Prior to this role, Mr. Losby had served as President of Steinway & Sons for the Americas since January 1, 2008, based at the New York factory.
 

    Mr. Losby has had a long track record of success at Steinway & Sons. He began his tenure as a District Manager in 1987, where he refined his understanding of the retail business in the Americas and attained increasing levels of responsibility within the organization. In 2005, he was promoted to lead Steinway's European retail operations, relocating to work out of Steinway Hall London. Mr. Losby brought his strong retail experience to Europe, helping to increase sales in London and other major markets, while at the same time honing his understanding of the European business landscape.
 

    In his role as President of the Americas, Mr. Losby helped to manage the Company through The Great Recession – keeping Steinway & Sons viable financially while never losing focus on the Company’s mission of building the best piano possible. Ron is an accomplished pianist and has studied at both the San Francisco Conservatory and The Juilliard School in New York City.

Mar 23    Outback Steakhouse Funds for Scholars Luncheon ~ March 23

    Bring your entire office for a fun lunch while also raising funds for the Bloomingdale Chamber scholarship program.  
    
    We are pleased that Salomon Diaz, Proprietor of Outback Steakhouse will once again be donating all proceeds from the March 23 luncheon to our scholarship fund.  This will be the tenth year that Salomon has generously supported our students.  You will have a choice of steak or chicken.  The menu also includes salad, potato, dessert and a beverage.  

Event Cancellation Policy 
Pre-registration for our events is required so that the hosting venue can prepare an adequate number of meals.  If you need to cancel your registration, you must do so 24 hours in advance of the event. If you are unable to attend the event, but have not notified us at least 24 hour prior to the event, you will be responsible for the cost of the event.
