BAWIB Luncheon - Freedom of Course Correction

Freedom of Course Correction

Description:

  • As a coach that specializes in career transition, emerging young professionals, and moms who are reentering the workforce, the hardest part for so many of my clients is the fear of the unknown.  It is usually the time where the fear meter hits 10 out of 10.  The fear stems from the  absolutes, the black and white thinking.   You know, all or nothing, win or lose, right or wrong, good or bad.  It's a very common and understandable response, but what if there were answers that allowed us to think in a more colorful way?  Colors that opened up our minds and all of our senses to possibilities.
  • What if we gave ourselves permission to explore without shackling our minds and thoughts to just one way or another?
  • Have you ever gotten in your car plugged in Waze or Google maps, you?ve got in your favorite audiobook or playlist and you are ready to go?  You start driving and halfway in the trip, suddenly, ?Waze has noticed a slow down in 5 miles and is rerouting you.?  Never, ever, have I thought, ?Oh my gosh that is so great, I can?t wait to be detoured.?  I usually get an attitude and then I follow the detour.
  • What if when we are ?derailed? or we course correct, we see it as an opportunity to see so much more than we could have ever imagined, and that may inform us of a different or even better route?
  • What if we saw value in the course corrections of life?
  • What would happen if it opened up a sense of wonder for us, instead of a burden, a waste of time, a fly in the ointment?
  • What if we strengthened our agility to pivot like an athlete that is heading to score a basket, touchdown or goal, instead of being  like the tin man in The Wizard of Oz who rusts every time it rains and is rendered immobile?
  • What if that agility informed us of possibilities, solutions, experiences, and learnings that we can?t see or envision?
  • What if the course corrections in our lives were just reroutes to our greatest joys?

While there, she facilitated workshops with students interested in career exploration and professional preparation. She met with undergraduates, alumni, graduate students, veterans, and adult students to coach and advise them in career choices and strategies for their career search. She also facilitated workshops on resume development, networking, interviewing, and self-branding. Currently, Ingrid hosts workshops and thought-provoking focus groups around personal and professional growth.
